Laminated Enclosed FME Foam Plugs — Fully Encapsulated Debris Exclusion Sponges (Safe-T-Sponge®)
Couldn't load pickup availability
Fully sealed on every face — for sharp edges and rough openings
Laminated Enclosed FME foam plugs take our standard foam core and seal it completely inside our proprietary flame-retardant laminate — top, sides, and bottom. With no exposed foam anywhere, these plugs stand up to the sharp edges, burrs, and abrasive surfaces that would tear or shed an ordinary sponge, and the sealed skin wipes down clean between uses. When the opening is unforgiving, this is the plug the manufacturer recommends.
Why fully enclosed
- Sealed on all sides in flame-retardant laminate — no exposed foam to tear, snag, or shed particles.
- Built for sharp or abrasive openings — recommended where edges or surfaces would damage a standard or top-laminated sponge.
- Most durable round in the line and easy to wipe clean, supporting reuse and decontamination.
- Twin top handles for controlled placement and removal of larger discs.
- Low-halogen, low-metals foam core — built to a documented low-contaminant standard with independent lab testing and lot-number traceability on every batch; nuclear & fossil compatible.
- Patented design, made in the U.S.A.
Where they're used
Turbine overhauls, boiler work, valve bodies, flanged and machined openings, and new fabrication — anywhere Foreign Object Damage (FOD) is a risk and the opening has edges, burrs, or rough surfaces that rule out an unprotected sponge.

Use & care (always follow site FME procedures)
- Choose a size that seats snugly with compression but still inserts and retracts easily; position the loops below any tooling used afterward and keep them centered.
- Inspect before, during, and after use; account for and replace any damaged plug.
- Vacuum loose debris before retracting the plug.
- Keep away from welding slag, grinding sparks, flame, and ignition sources.
- Avoid acetone and alcohol-based solvents and oils — they can weaken the laminate bond. Don't soak or immerse. Don't step on or cut the plug.
- Attach a lanyard per your site standards — required for vertical-down applications.
